Persuasive Argument

My client Mr. Hyde should not be found guilty of this crime because he was acting not sane at the time he committed this crime.  Many people including Mr. Enfield and Mr. Utterson can say under oath that they think my client has acted like he was not all there like an incident in Soho where he trampled a little girl.  This proves that Mr. Hyde should be acquitted by way of insanity.

  1. Michael,

This blog entry shows me that you have begun to think about the basic reasons for prosecuting Hyde. However, the final writing piece should be much more detailed overall. Your blog shows me that you have a clear understanding of the appropriate point of view for this writing assignment and you have stated your position. Overall, the introduction needs some serious consideration as a paragraph on its own. You should consider using some of the strategies discussed in class after viewing the youtube clips (formally introduce the accused and the case and then remind the jury of their role in this case or what the court system is supposed to do). Next, move on to cite your reasons for defending Hyde. Each reason should be its own distinct paragraph. Your first might be proving Hyde's insanity. Remember to sum up all of the evidence and witness testimonies from the trial that prove he was insane. Your next paragraph might focus on deconstructing the evidence produced by the prosecution and focus on showing the flaws in the evidence or the witnesses. A final reason you should make your most powerful and it should really serve to "compel" the jury to take your side. One last note: Be sure to use language that is formal and appropriate for this assignment. Be specific in your examples. Best of luck!
